Every Single Prayer... Answered

The past few days I've been recovering from a medical procedure. The rest has allowed me some time for reflection and contemplation.

This evening I was looking over our prayer requests we had during Godwin's adoption.  Do you know every single prayer request was answered?  Every single one!  How great it is to reflect on all the Lord has done for us.

These were our requests:

For God's GLORY - first and foremost

For protection - over this child we've yet to meet. Specifically, please pray for healing of his health. Also, please pray those caring for him will know how to help him.

For discernment - clearly following God's leading - boy or girl, boys or girls, or boy and girl??? ANSWERED! God led us to a 2 1/2 year old boy.

For provision - may we trust completely

For clarity of purpose - staying in HIS will

For courage - to say YES to anything the Lord asks of us

For mercy in the adoption process - to be granted an adoption decree instead of a two year placement

For patience - in God's perfect timing

For the hope of Christ to be continually believed without wavering doubt

For trust - even in the midst of concerning news about our child, may we trust in God's providence and sovereignty

Our Lord is great and greatly to be praised.  Thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayers!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Prince or Pauper

Our seven year old, Braden, is in a book club.  They boys are currently reading through Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper.  The story is about two boys who trade places from poverty to kingship.  They both realize "the other life" is not what they expected.

On the way home last week trying to make conversation, I asked Braden if he felt more like a prince or more like a pauper.

After a few seconds of silence, Braden answered, "Well, I feel like a prince, but I know I'm a pauper."

A bit confused, I questioned, "Why is that, Braden?"

With the wisdom of Solomon, he answered, "Well Mom, God is the only one with riches.  He's rich in everything.  I know I am just a poor pauper...I'm nothing without him."

Out of the mouths of babes...

The LORD sends poverty and wealth;
he humbles and he exalts.
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes
and has them inherit a throne of honor.
