We are the Church

Remember the rhyme you learned as a child...
"I am the Church, You are the Church,
We are the Church together -
All who follow Jesus - All around the World -
Yes, we're the church together!
The church is not a building,
The church is not a steeple,
The church is not a resting place,
The church is the people."

Well, Reid and I have been trying to talk to the boys about the truth behind the words. In fact it was our topic of conversation on the way to our worship service on Sunday. We were explaining to the boys that "We are the church...all believers around the world...that is the church."

Fast forward now to Sunday afternoon.

We were invited to another church for a covered dish luncheon. After lunch, I was gathering our bowls of food. Braden was trying to put the serving spoons into the containers.

Mason correctly said to him, "Braden, we can't take those spoons. They belong to the church."

With innocent understanding, Braden replied, "Mason, we are the church!"
